March 24: Pop-luck

Last Thursday's meeting was a blast!

In addition to our three founding members (Nick, Dave and Ellen), we welcomed two graduate composition students, Nate and Patrick, and two music education majors, Roxanne and Christina.   In the manner of a proper pop-luck, we shared both food and music.  (Brownies with cinnamon are DELISH.  Thanks, Roxanne!)

Topics we covered included, but were not limited to:
*  The return of the mixtape
*  Local art (Co-op art show next month) and music (and the possibility of started a new music series)
*  First live shows, favorite live shows and most recently-attended live shows
*  Upcoming live shows**
*  Camping

**It would be great to have an official "Popular Music Club Outing" sometime this semester.  Some possibilities for this include a Black Lips/Vivian Girls show in Detroit on Sunday, April 17 and a Mogwai show in Detroit on Thursday, April 28.  Any other suggestions would be great!  If you have an interest in either of these shows, please leave a comment or email us: popular.music.msu@gmail.com

Our next meeting will be on Thursday, April 7 at 8 pm.  We're not sure of a location yet, but until further notice it will be at Dave and Ellen's apartment in East Lansing.  This will be a mix CD exchange meeting!  If you plan on attending, bring a mix CD of whatever music you've been digging lately and we'll have a random exchange.  If you have anything else you'd like to talk about at this meeting, leave a comment or email us!

Stay chill, friends.
